TEZLYN FIGARO
BIOGRAPHY

Tezlyn Figaro is the Founder and Managing Principal Consultant of The Allied Group, a human resource, consulting and mediation firm located in Orlando, Florida.

Her vast business expertise and leadership abilities are due in part to her previous leadership roles within the world's leading organizations, such as: U.S. Air Force Reserves Security Police Unit, GEICO Insurance, Southwestern Bell, Robert Half International Staffing Firm Division Manager, Adecco Staffing Firm Branch Manager and General Motors Acceptance Cooperation, just to name a few.

The Allied Group, a for-profit staffing firm, began with 300 volunteers who served over 35,000 volunteer hours within a 6 month period in an effort to establish The Allied Group brand. As a result in less than three years during an economic recession, The Allied Group placed over 300 paid temporary associates within some of Central Florida's most recognized entities. The Allied Group clientele portfolio includes but not limited to The Central Florida Transportation Authority (LYNX), The National Basketball Association and The City of Orlando Venues just to name a few.

Ms. Figaro holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management and is currently pursuing her Master’s in Education specializing in Adult Education and Training.

Ms. Figaro is a Florida Supreme Court Certified (Alternative Dispute Resolution) Mediator for the Ninth Judicial Circuit in which she has successfully mediated over 100 court-connected cases since 2008 consistently maintaining a 98% resolution record.

She is also a Florida Supreme Court Approved Mediation (Alternative Dispute Resolution) Assistant Trainer, Six Sigma White Belt Project Management Certified and since 1999 she has been licensed in the State of Texas as an Insurance Property & Casualty Agent, Workers Compensation Agent, Life/Health and Annuities Insurance Agent and Property & Casualty Liability Adjuster.

Ms. Figaro also possess an extensive business continuing education portfolio which includes graduating from The University of Central Florida Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certificate program. Ms. Figaro also graduated from the 2012 Orlando Regional Chamber of Commerce Inaugural Entrepreneur's Academy just to name a few.

Fiercely dedicated to her community, she believes non-partisan public and private partnerships are necessary for effective Government public policy and job creation within the community.

As a result, her stewardship has earned her the opportunity to represent the constituents in several Government entities. Ms. Figaro has been appointed by Orange County Mayor Richard Crotty to serve as a 2010-2014 voting member representing the constituents of Orange County on the Metroplan Citizens Advisory Committee. The Citizens Advisory Committee ensures that the public has the opportunity to review and evaluate all proposed transportation plans and programs. The committee provides their opinion, concerns and recommendations to the Metroplan Orlando Board. The Metroplan Orlando Board is responsible for implementing the transportation planning process in Orange, Osceola and Seminole County. The board is made up of elected officials from the three- county area, the largest cities in the region, and representatives from the region’s transportation operating agencies.

Ms. Figaro has also been appointed by Orange County Mayor Teresa Jacobs to serve the constituents of Orange County as a 2013-2015 voting member on the Orange County Government Membership and Mission Review Board which entails recommending volunteers to the Board of County Commissioners concerning all 35 Multi-Jurisdictional and Orange County Government volunteer Boards. In addition, to serving as a board liaison assigned to various boards in an effort to monitor and conduct periodic sunset review compliance.

Ms. Figaro’s past board and committee roles include, appointed to serve on the 2010-2012 Central Florida Partnership Young Professional Advisory Committee Member, elected to serve on the 2010-2012 Orange County League of Women Voters Board Member, Court Appointed Child Advocate, elected to serve as the Chairperson for the 2013 Eagle's Nest Elementary Student Advisory Committee and Orange County Juvenile Restorative Justice Volunteer Mediator, just to name a few.

As a result of her business success and community commitment, she has been presented many awards and accolades. Tezlyn was named a 2009 Cadillac Community Influencer, 2010 Orlando Business Journals 40 Under 40 winner and honored in 2012 as a finalist of Orlando Business Journals Women to Watch top 15 out of 400 nominees. Tezlyn was also recently featured on the front cover and contributed human resource insight for the award winning Regional 2011 Metroplan Annual Report.

Tezlyn has also been featured as a political strategist on the nationally syndicated television show “The Daily Buzz” that has a viewership of 60 million. She has also been featured as a job expert on ABC affiliate Channel 9 television show “Central Florida Spotlight” as well as other various national, state and local print, radio and television media outlets such as Tom Joyner’s “Black America Web”, NBC affiliate WESH Channel 2 and The Orlando Sentinel just to name a few.

In the political arena, Ms. Figaro posses a diverse array of political training and expertise. She has a proven public outreach track record, extensive training portfolio and real experience working with various backgrounds to include, special interest groups, key community leaders, key business stakeholders and key members of the Democrat, Republican and Independent party on the Federal, State and Local level. Ms. Figaro also provided government affairs consulting for the 2013 Florida House of Representatives legislative session.

Ms. Figaro has contributed her expertise to several local campaigns such as volunteer coordinator for the 2012 re-election of one of America’s most recognized judges, Chief Judge Belvin Perry, Jr. just to name a few.

In addition to her real world experience, Ms. Figaro has also attended several national, regional and local nonpartisan political trainings such as The White House Project, The Florida League of Women Voters, Ruth’s List Hispanic Outreach Training and was sponsored by U.S. Congresswoman Corrine Brown to attend the 2010 Congressional Black Caucus Political Boot Camp in Washington, D.C. And recently, through a competitive application process, Ms. Figaro graduated from the 2013 Women’s Campaign School at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut.

Tezlyn is also the proud Mother of a 6 year old daughter. Tezlyn believes it is possible to achieve the America dream through for profit entrepreneurship and by serving her community simultaneously.
